Machine Maintenance Day...and new HQ machine!

I finished a Holiday flannel quilt top at the retreat at Quilt Essentials a few days ago..we had so much fun!  If you ever get a chance to attend one, jump at it.  Looking forward to the next one.

Holiday Frost all quilted and bound..warm and cozy!
Chris at Blakeman's from Cheyenne would be happy to have another Machine Maintenance Day here in the Studio!  If you are interested, please contact me at 307-745-3200 or email me at bobbinsnthreads@gmail.com.  I would need your name and phone number, what type/brand of machine needing service and if there are any specific problems you need addressed.  We need 15 machines.

And HandiQuilter has a new quilting system and I cannot wait to get one!  It is called the Amara.  Check it out here, there is a lovely video:

The online store is getting more and more things in it and I am having a 10% off sale (checkout code TakeOff10) until October 31st:

Happy First Day of Autumn!

But I am sorry to see summer go.  It has been so nice this year.  We are still harvesting zucchini and tomatoes but I think after this weekend they will be pretty much finished.  It is supposed to be miserable.  That's okay.  Quilting weather is coming.  :)

The online shop is getting more things in!  I hope to have more baby print double gauze in soon as it is the most popular so far.  My current project is Sand and Ivory solids for a couch snuggle quilt, 2 yards of each, Quilters Dream Request cotton batting and I am big stitch quilting it in various beige colors of Finca perle cotton 8 It always amazes me how quickly these quilts get finished just sitting and working in front of the tv at night.  No marking..just follow the little grid lines in the double gauze! The meandering you see is the basting that I do on the longarm for hand quilting projects.

There is a tutorial on my online shop if you are interested:
Big Stitch Tutorial

We had a Big Stitch Class at Quilt Essentials a few Saturdays ago and it was so much fun!  The students practised on Halloween and Xmas panels and they picked it up very quickly. So proud of them! If you would like me to teach any classes, contact Kara at QE and let her know.  We are always open to suggestions!

Speaking of hand quilting...I finished the project that we worked on last winter...a preprinted Tulip wholecloth pillow panel and I used heirloom hand quilting, big stitch quilting and hand embroidery on it.  Yes, finally finished, stuffed with a pillow form and tossed on the bed!

And speaking of preprinted wholecloths...I will be carrying some!  I cannot resist as they are my favorite thing to hand quilt and you can heirloom quilt them, big stitch quilt them, use colored threads, trapunto them, embroider them and machine quilt them!  I hope to place an order next week.  If there is anything specific you would like me to get for you, just holler and I will add it to the order.  There are pillow panels/mini wholecloths, crib quilts and large quilts.  You can see the selection at The Stencil Company.

A wholecloth crib quilt that I finished a few years ago...laying out to dry after soaking off the preprinted marks

QE has YLI quilting thread in stock and I carry some Superior Threads Treasure.  There are more and more hand quilting threads being offered out there, now, and I am going to test some. Right now I am most interested in trying Aurifil 28wt as some hand quilters I admire use it and I want to see how it quilts.

For Big Stitch, anything goes!  But my current favorite is Presencia Perle Cotton 8, which I carry.  And QE has some also.

Let's see...what else...

Handiquilter is having a promo right now for Demo Days, ending September 25th:
I have an Avante on a 12ft Studio Frame, with or without the Pro Stitcher computer, and a Sweet 16 sit down system with TruStitch regulator and very heavy cabinet for sale.  If you are interested please contact me at 307-745-3200 or email me at bobbinsnthreads@gmail.com

And still more on the rack to finish by the end of the month.  :)  I love my job"!

Online Shop and Last Days of Handi Quilter Promo!

Well, I have been working very hard on the Online Shop! What a learning experience.  But it is now up and running.  Still lots to be done but it is getting there.  The Double Gauze is there and the Perle Cotton thread, some Needles & Notions and a Tutorial for making the little quilts. I have sold a few kits and will be learning more about promoting in the next few weeks.  I love this stuff.  ;)

Two little double gauze quilts all washed and dried and cuddly!

Handi Quilter has a great new promo which will be finished in a few days!  I will be putting more Handi Quilter things on the online shop in the next little while and if you have any questions, just holler!

And the customer quilts have also been coming along.  Will post pictures in the next blog.  I wanted to get the Handi Quilter Promo out to you before it expires.

The eclipse is on Monday and I am really looking forward to it.  Hopefully the weather will be good. It is amazing to me how people are flocking to Wyoming for this!

Handi Quilter Promotion - last days! And Studio Demo Machine Sale!

Yes, it has been awhile...been an action packed several months but summer has wound down, I am quilting up a storm and getting the house in order.  And I have actually made a few new things and finished a few old things and enjoyed doing some sewing for a change.

Here is Elodie's baby quilt.  I make a special quilt for all the grandbabies.  Ellie's has hand embroidery using perle cotton along the top along with cross hatched quilting.  Alfresco quilting design in the body of the quilt.  Cotton batting..washed and dried and all cuddly and quilty.

Handi Quilter is having a great promotion right now!  Only 2 days left to save.  Contact me at 307-745-3200 or email me at bobbinsnthreads@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like to take advantage of the savings.

And speaking of savings, I have my demo Simply Sixteen and 5 ft Little Foot Frame on sale for a really good price.  Give me a call if you are interested.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I cannot believe it is March already! And our March snow(s) are here so I am glad to be up in the Studio cozy and warm.  :)

We purchased a new car (finally) two day's ago on Rudi's birthday so he was a happy guy.  We bought our last car on his birthday as well, so it seems to be a tradition for us.  I suppose it helps that it is usually during spring break...

Our old Buick was just getting so uncomfortable to sit in after eleven years and all the long trips we had taken in it and although I am missing it, the new CR-V is pretty awesome.  Complicated, but awesome.  Rudi took it to work today to see how it drives in the snow.  I was too chicken to drive him to work in it today.  ;)

Here are some pictures of the Star Wars quilt I made and sent to the family...it was so much fun to do! It was a panel and I added borders to it and pieced the back with the leftover fabric.

And...after almost a year of hand quilting, I finally finished the wholecloth crib quilt.  Here it is after being gently washed to get all the markings out.  It was a pre-marked quilt top as those who know me well know that I hate prep work and these little pre-marked kits work for me.  I have actually ordered two more as I want to do some experimenting on the longarm with them.  I used silk batting and the finished quilt is so light and soft.  Love it.

And some things I found on the internet:

**************************
We are having another Machine Maintenance Day!  Techs from Blakeman's will be here on Friday, April 8th starting at 9am.  Give me a call at 307-745-3200 or email me at bobbinsnthreads@gmail.com if you would like to be put on the list.

                            **************************
The latest Handi Quilter promo "Celebrate National Quilting Day" is still available until March 21st!  So, if you are interested in a new HQ quilting system, contact me and I would be glad to offer you free shipping.

And if you are in the market for a gently used system, it is time to sell my Demos!  I have the new Simply Sixteen and Little Foot Frame to offer, a Sweet 16 sit down system with a Hide Away cabinet and Tru Stitch stitch regulator, and the Avante on a Studio Frame with or without the Pro Stitcher computer.  They all work beautifully and, as with any machine you purchase, you receive support and training from me.  If you are interested, just holler!

Finally, some customer quilts, 3 months worth (I really should blog more often....)

As always, thanks for your continued support.  It means a lot!
Warmly,
Jude
