Memory Quilt Progress

I have to say that I am having a blast doing this quilt! I have 8 blocks to applique and 4 are finished, so far. I cut off the backs of every little outfit, then carefully pinned the fronts in place, turning under a seam allowance, and hand appliqueing them down. It takes a lot of fussing with the frills and such and the little bloomers in some of the sets were a bit finicky to place nicely but I am getting there. I trimmed away all the extra bulk of elastics waists and such and have topstitched the yokes and around the necks under the collars so that they don't balloon out. I will have to do some *creative* quilting when I get to that point but for now I am pleased with the progress. :o)

And this one is all pinned and ready to applique.

  1. What a cute idea! Very clever. Looking forward to seeing the completed quilt. The little dresses look to be in very good condition too. My daughters little dresses were quite worn out or stained by the time she outgrew them. I think we have a smocked one left in chest.

  2. Precious quilt idea. Just love those little dresses. I only have grandsons and my DD saves nothing. Gets the imagination going though.
